Our walking
holiday base on Zakynthos is a family run small hotel in a quiet
area leading directly on to a small strip of golden sand. The
Hotel faces the Ionian Sea and across the water the Island of
Kefalonia can be seen with it's impressive mountains raising
high. Despite being a small family run hotel, it has its own
swimming pool, restaurant and bar so you can enjoy your evening
meals looking out over the sea.
The rooms
are typically Mediterranean, clean, bright and simple, with
modern facilities. Most of the rooms have balconies that overlook
the sea, perfect for taking a few minutes to yourself perhaps
getting to grips with that really good book you've been meaning
to read.
The hotel
is neighboured by just a couple of similar hotels and a few
private apartments, interspersed amongst the acres of olive
groves that stretch from the sea right back inland across the
hills and plain. Perfect for an evening stroll after dinner.
Breakfast
and dinner are served in the hotel restaurant and are mainly
local fare including wonderful yoghurt, honey and delicious
bread to start your day and a superb mixture of typical Greek
dishes for dinner. For lunch you can stop at local tavernas
along the way and enjoy the famous Greek Salads and bread or
take your own. Of course surrounded by olive groves these play
a major part in the cuisine and the local oil and olives are
absolutely divine.
In October
you can help out with the olive harvest on the small family
farm and possibly even watch them being pressed the following
day. Once you taste pure Zakynthian Olive Oil with its fine
grassy flavours you won't settle for anything else.
